10 Ways to Increase Editing Productivity
Some good advice for editors who want to increase their productivity.
My favorites are:
- "Rough cut, fine cut, final cut": If you’re afraid of dumping stuff and starting all over again (or you don’t have the budget to!) better try to get more time/budget to do so.
- "Have a capture tool": I use MindNode and OmniFocus to capture everything that comes to my mind and tries to interrupt me from doing my work. Set times aside where you are allowed to do "interruptive" activities, but force yourself back to work.
- "Steer clear of tunnel vision": This one’s hard to tackel. You’re going to find lots of advice online. When I have block, I turn off my computer and leave for a walk. (In fact I walk around the office once an hour, forcefully.) Other times some inspiration cards1 help to keep moving. I know it’s hard, but that’s just our job. We come up with cool ideas, 24/7 if necessary.
